One of the great things about modern day technology is the ability to store things such as music, films and books electronically. As well as freeing up tons of space in your home, it makes transporting them much easier (remember having to lug around a ‘Discman’ in your pocket just to listen to your favourite tunes on a bus?)
But there are still plenty of people who enjoy the aspect of collecting physical copies of their music and the annual ‘Record Store Day’ is there to help them celebrate. Founded in 2007 and held on the third Saturday of April each year, the event is celebrated worldwide and pays homage to the important role of independent record shops.
As well as many small shops offering up discounted promotion deals and organising gigs for local bands, lots of big names get in on the act too. This year saw the likes of Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Public Enemy, Bob Dylan and Pulp all put out limited edition vinyl releases for fans.
Roll on next April for more of the same!
