The Joys of Gardening

Last Friday I was called up by a friend of mine who owns a little allotment patch close to Wrocłwaw, inviting me to join him for a few days in the sunshine. Seeing as the springtime is in full force, it seemed like a good opportunity to meet up and catch some rays.

Of course, there was some hard work involved. See, my mate enjoys gardening and growing his own fruit and veg. So a weekend away didn’t mean relaxing, but involved me helping him pot and plant seeds so he has enough stock for the autumn and winter months ahead.

I was a bit dubious at first, but to be honest, it was great fun – digging holes, organising seeds and watering existing crops was a blast. And he assured me that when the crops finally grow, they will taste much better than those that you buy in the shops.

So I’m looking forward to testing them out come August and September. If we have any readers who also have their own allotments, we’d love to hear what you would recommend growing…
